BMW's camera truck

Take a look at this, spotted during filming of the new X1 BMW. You'd think they'd use an X5 for the camera truck, but no, a 10 year old E38!

Whatever it is, we can't help but be more enamored with the camera truck. Is that an E38-amino? Why yes, yes it is. Given the choice between a new X1 and a 7-series truck we'd probably take the camera rig-truck.

I'd imagine an E38 is more stable, the C of G would be lower.

..and yet the decade old 7 series looks like the more impressive car, even under scaffolding.

I think I'd prefer to cut the roof off the 10yo 7-series than an X5 to be honest.

I saw a car ad being filmed in Barcelona a few years ago; was for a Fiat MPV of some sort; they had 3 or 4 brand new cars, only 1 was complete, the others were all chopped up and a camera mounted to each one

Absolutely, but I doubt it would make hardly any difference at those low speeds. They certainly look like awkward seating positions!

They'd be better off shooting from the top of a Citroen going by that Top Gear test at the horse races a few years back :p

Yeah, I'm surprised - it's not bad. Then again I quite like the 1 series too...
