Hi all, new to this board, hope you dont mind me asking some advice?

I have one gun (22LR) and was looking at a 243 and the dealer said all I need is a hunting licence, he said my pulse id should cover me for the permission slips. Does anyone know if this is true?
    Thanks

This is what happened when I added a rifle after having a shotgun for a while, didn't need to get permisions or anything, didn't even need the permission to be Joint licenced on the gun(its my dads gun) that i had to get for the shotgun (it's his too). The FO just copied what I had from the shotgun licencing process with no questions asked.

though in your case its gona be a different gard and it'll depend on what your .22 licence was got for- if it was hunting/vermin then you should be o.k.

To get a hunting licence you will need permissions and folio numbers for the land you intend to hunt they all go on your application to the see here http://www.npws.ie/en/media/Media,3684,en.pdf
    hope this helps.

For a 243 you will need to get hunting permissions and a NPWS permit for deer shooting (see above link) OR join a Garda authorised rifle range that has facilities for such calibres.

Permissions for a shotgun or 22 rifle will not do, usually, although it always depends on your local FAO and Super

More than likely this is the case. It depends on the FO. Some areas give .243s for fox

No need for apologies, I've 5 days off work in a row. Its better than a lot of people get (big pay cuts, let go etc)

So to bring this back on topic, visit and talk to your local Gardai and see what they say.
