Changing laptop ide hd to Sata drive,is it possible

    MY laptop has an 80gig 2.5 hardrive ide type.I have a sata 2.5 hardrive 300gig spare drive.Can i just buy a 2.5inch ide to sata cable and use the sata as drive c ,boot drive.THE drive bay underneath has approx ten x ten inch free space ,im presuming i wont need an extra power cabe to the sata harddrive.theres plenty of room for the new hd and the ide2sata cable.

    You can't put sata driver into ide bay in your laptop. There is no room for that and no connection way.

    this is not a standard laptop .the ide hd is in the midde of a space 8x8inch approx, theres enough space for 3 , 2,5inch hardrives.

    gamer, there might be bios limitations. Check that your laptop doesn't have a 'maximum hard drive' size, this was often the case with various laptops using PATA drives.

    I was browsing for USB adapters and stumbled across this.

    gamer, this looks like it would work. As I said in my earlier post, there might be bios issues.

    Have a look.
