    Robot attacked Swedish factory worker

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.

Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine.

"I've never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT.

The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation.

But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim's head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries.

"The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson.

The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police.

Prosecutor Johansson chastised the company for its inadequate safety procedures but he also placed part of the blame on the injured worker.

No, our only hope is a race of sentient robots from a far away planet that come to rescue us. They can change their shape to blend in as such things as cars, planes, tanks and 80s style tape decks.

    That's right.

They have been doing this for the last 30 years.
The NWA are keeping it all quiet until the robots are all in place.

We are safe from robot attack anyway...

Our Government has created a massive good robotic killing machine from the e-voting machine technology we had lying around...

The creation comes from an idea Mary Harney had while watching the Transformers with 8 tubes of Ben & Jerrys, two boxes of pringles and a small goat.

By NWA do you mean the Nation Wrestling Association in America or the Rap Group?

Seriously though on top of all the othe problems of the world such as Reccccccccccccccc that economic thingie and Swine Flu an outbreak of killer robots dosen't sound so bad. TBH i'm all prepared, simply because I've been stocking up. Although I was expecting an outbreak of zombies not robots but I think it all goes the same way. Now to inform my comrade in Zombie forum:D

He's in Terminator Salvations. Playing John Conner, the leader of the Human resistence.

It's nice to see that Mary Harney made this robot out of the things she found in her lunchbox.

yeah she pretty inventive, give Mary some timber and a nail gun and she could build you a hospital.

...no, wait, i've got her mixed up with McGuiver again.

The robot thing is true though.

Japeneese have created the material used in construction of the T1000 so we are on our way.

Actually thats pretty cool - could something simmilar to this not be used to solve the internal components problem involved in devolping quantum computing?

I remember reading an article about a killer robot and the dangers of the millennium bug in Focus around 1995! There have be various different mechanical devices that have killed people and just because it is a robot as opposed to anything else people freak out.
