Slow Time Machine Backup

    just bought a ext. hd and i started backing up before i went to sleep last night, when i woke this morning it had only backed up 14 gb of 145 gb, surely it should have been faster than that? any idea how i could make it faster to sync because at current rate it'll take nearly a week to back up, any help is greatly appreciated.

    How is the external hdd connected to the Mac? USB? What port is it connected to?

    connected via 2 usb ports, its fine now, stopped the back up then started again and its going fine, weird... thanks for the reply
