Clearwire throttling Rapidshare??

    Hi,

I'm on Clearwire & while I know it's far from the best out there it was the only option available to me 8 months ago when I signed up. I have been getting a decent enough speed out of them when using rapidshare & a download manager ( c. 250kb/s ) but in the last week that has dropped right off to 60 kb/s.

Anyone else unfortunate enough to be on Clearwire & having the same problem??

    I checked on speedtest.net & everything's normal there.

    Thanks

I've always believed that Clearwire throttle any kind of sustained download.

It had been grand for the last 8 months, like I said I was getting a decent speed out of it but in the last week it looks like they have capped it at 60kb/s

I have the exact same problem a few days ago my download speed dropped to 60 kb/s where it used to be between 250 -400 kb/s. I have already contacted clearwire and rapidshare, they both told me there shouldn't be any problem ...

I also have the same problem, download speed is max 60kb/s, but usually after 30 minus it drops down to 15kb/s.
Maybe it is becouse now there is no usage allowance ("unlimited") but new policy applies

    Here is a link http://www.clearwire.ie/?section=46

I think is is good time to tell them goodbye.I might understand that p2p is blocking their network, but not ftp.

Wow, glad i found this thread.

Ive had a Clearwire 2meg line and had been getting Rapidshare speeds of 210kbs download but now like you guys its 60kbs and then sometimes only 12kbs!!!

Obviously something has changed in the past 2-3 weeks, this is unacceptable.

I didn't get more than 15kb over the weekend. It takes 8 hours to download a movie.

BUMP - Did anyone find a solution or explanation for this problem?

I've had the very same issue and clearwire claim they haven't changed anything when I called them...

I read somewhere they use Cisco SCE for traffic shaping apparently from someone who worked in their techs department? However the way they phrase it is "Traffic priortising" rather than shapping but it's pretty much the same thing in my book, just a phrase used to make it sound more positive.

With regard to calling Clearwire and being told nothing has changed - the call centre is outsourced to the UK and no doubt on performance based contracts, the fact that the networks team are in a totally different country means it's unlikely they are told anything, and even if they were, they're not going to say anything.

Traffic priortising - It looks like they prioritise everything that people actually do not use. For me skype rapidshare youtube works unbelieveable slow
