Hi, I'm looking at buying an item on EBAY but its very large/heavy (32kgs) so does anyone know of a CHEAP but reliable courier service ideally that would pick up the item in UK at the address and deliver to Ireland.

Your first problem is it is 32kg.

some parcel delivery services take up to 30kg, but over this it is classified as freight.

You could try interlink / dpd - their limit is 31kg.

Just seen this thread and not sure if you went ahead and bought the item you were thinking of on Ebay yet but there is a website called :

    http://www.Shiply.com

Ebay is one of their prime areas for business it would seem also.

I know a few people who have used it and got really good value. One mate bought a leather sofa and got it brought over for €60.

It works on a bidding system and €60 was the lowest someone bid for the job as they were coming to Dublin from very nearby in Brighton from what I remember.

Word of warning. Bouoght an item in uk, got a very reasonable bid on shiply from a company called EBCargo.
They then failed to pick up the item 7 days running blaming 3rd party couriers and weather conditions yet offered me immediate pick up on the seventh day if I paid 3 times the quoted price. Its a downright scam. On calling them, the attitude was a disgrace saying I had now been given a reasonable option (pay 3 times the quote) and laughed when I suggested that he should provide the immediate pickup but stick to the lower promised price. He eventually rather rudely offered a refund and hung up.
    Nightmare service.
