Barcelona's stadium name?

The sports presenting lady on RTE radio was calling it Camp Nou yesterday and had me tut-tuting... then the Dunphster referred to it as the same

I grew up thinking it was the Nou Camp?? Have they changed the name recently or what?

In Catalan, it's Camp Nou (means 'new field')

Camp Nou is the name, ignore the dissenters.

They are the people who call "Tesco" "Tesco's" say "2 euros" instead of "2 Euro" who when we had pounds said "2 Pound" instead of "2 pounds"

Good question riverdeep. Perhaps it has something to do with the translations. Maybe the Spanish correct version is Camp Nou whereas the bastardised English version is Nou Camp.

The Spanish (outside Catalunya) call it the Nou Camp also.

And also the Real Madrid ground is the Bernabeu.
It is Pronounced 'Ber-na-Bay-oo' not 'Ber-na Boww' as most english speaking commentators seem to think.

Yes , all the vowels are pronounced individually,hence the difference,unlike English where we run some vowels together.

'new camp' and 'ber na boww' are for ignoramuses. Other ingoramuses like to shorten the name of the city of Barcelona to Barça ('going to Barça for a stag this weekend' - no you're not!). Barça is the knickname of the football team and football team alone.

Actually, both are a perfectly acceptable way to refer to 2 Euro and allowed under EU regulations. Lrn2government paper.

Camp Nou is correct and Nou Camp incorrect, however in Spain it is often referred to as Nou Camp (probably to annoy the hell out of Catalans)

Definitely Camp Nou. I was there a couple of weeks ago, only found out it was pronounced that was while I was there.
