I feel like a new man to be sure to be sure

After his brain operation ,Chris Gregory woke up a new man .An Irishman actually .And just to be sure ,to be sure ,the 30 -year - old Yorkshireman sat up in his hospital bed and sang a stirring rendition of Danny Boy to his anstonished fiancee.

Mr Gregory had spent three days on a life support machine in the intensive care unit when he came around .
Seeing his bride to be he beamed and declared '' it's da broid '' in a thick Dublin acent .

For the next half hour ,he amazed relitives with his broad Gaelic lilt. But by the next day his own Yorkshire accent was back .Mr Gregory who needed emergency surgery after a blod vessal ruptured in his brain ,is thought to have developed a condition known as foreign accent syndrome .

It can affect control of the lips tongue and vocal cords in rare neurological cases .

Linda Walker ,a 60 year-old NewcasteLE womon , was in the news in 2006 when she started speaking with a Jamacian accent after a stroke .

Mr Gregory ,a landscape gardener from Sheffield ,has no memory of his Irish outburst at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in december 2007 .

I've told Mary that she should have videoed me ' he said .
At least then I could have sat back and watched myself singing Danny Boy .'
