I know that there has been a few threads on the WW200 but I would like to start one for those who are attempting the event for the first time.

I am going for the 200km this year as my first sportive. I have no experience in riding in a group and I the furthest that I have cycled us around 110km solo including the sally gap. I have limited experience in climbing hills in wicklow, but I would really like to go for the WW200 (at least the 100 :)).

Is there anyone here in a similar position as me with an aspiration to complete their first WW200 this year (I know that its late notice at this stage!). I am looking to do a couple of decent preparation spins in the next few weeks with a view for going for the 200.

It would be great to get out with a bunch for a few spins and then possilbly meet up to do the WW200 together...

Hi, I was going to post this anyway.

I am aiming to do a training spin over Shay Elliott and Slieve Maan and then back.
Thinking Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday. My plan is to take direct route out up Edmondstown Road, Kilakee, Sally Gap and Laragh.

You are more than welcome to come along. Would welcome the company.

The Saturday Boards spins would be helpful for you too. If you've got 110 under the belt, you'll have no problem keeping up, and it's a decent training run!

Keep an eye out on a Thursday or Friday for the meet point/time

    +1.

I'm doing it for the first time this year. I've been out on a couple of Boards spins and have found them great craic but more importantly good training for the 200. Group sizes are small enough so don't let the group riding put you off.
When I If anyone gets dropped on a climb the group will wait and regroup at the summit.:D
Rode in the Orwell Wheelers 100k over the weekend and found the last 20k tough. I've still some work to do till I reckon I'll get around the 200 but even my spin last night had a marked improvement over last week so I'm getting there.
And if you come out on a spin you might even get to see Tiny's bike in the flesh. Your screen doesn't do it's pinkness justice.:D
