Importing golf clubs from USA

Am sick of the prices being charged around Dublin for sets of clubs (McGuirks etc), as prices in UK & USA are so much cheaper.

Just wondering anyone has ever imported from USA, as unsure of all the taxes and duties that would be applied, occassionally travel back and forth.

For golf clubs, you get charged 2.7% duty (this from EU taxation website), this applied to (cost of clubs +shipping). Then 21.5% VAT applied to all of that.

So total price is (purchase cost +shipping)*1.027*1.215, so in total ~24.8% extra.

    Am I missing anything?

I've imported 2 different sets of irons and a few other bits and pieces that weren't available in Ireland/Europe in the past. Think your calculations are more or less correct. Depending on which company the items are shipped through, a brokerage fee is also usually applied.
In my experience, it always works out a bit more expensive than expected.

Same here, but still half the price you'd pay in this desolate rock of a nation.

general rule for me is you end up paying in € what the $ price is after all transaction and taxes..........generally close enough

if something is priced $199 it will cost close to €199 to get it to your door give or take v. little either way

Where else have you tried? What os the cost in $'s Vs €? and what you after?

Yes can you be specific. I could then tell you the price in Belfast and maybe that would be a bit easier than shipping form the US (at least you'll know what you have to pay).

Looking at getting a set of regular shaft irons (5 - SW)

    TaylorMade Burner 09
    Callaway X22
    Ping G10

    Prices in Dublin are €550 - €650

Sorry if this might not be the best thread for this

I've been a casual player for years (only 5/6 rounds a year) but I've started to play a lot more this year ( hung up the football boots ). looking at updating all my clubs. What would people recomend? Buy here, Drive up to the north or order off T'internet? Not Looking for anything too fancy, only a 18 handicapper and would be looking for good value.

    Cheers

Brian......I'll try to look this weekend and let you know.

    Looking at the website.....

    X22: 4 -SW = £489.35
    Burner 09: 4-SW = £479.56

Maybe not a huge saving on your lowest price but are yours for 5-SW?

    cheers.

looking on golfsupport.co.uk, you get the Burner 09 irons (4-SW) for £415, so that's a good bit cheaper again.

that's the cheapest I've seen on the net.

You could try ringing Nevada Bobs and tell them the cheapest price you saw and see if they will match it.

I saw a set of G10 irons at JJB in Lisburn and they were £449 but it was for a 3-PW. That would be ok if you already had a good SW. I have the G5s and I don't like the SW. It was also £499 for the G10s 4-SW.

I have been looking closely at this website for used clubs. I have no connection and just picked up links to it on a USA golfers forum that I read.

    http://callawaygolfpreowned.com/otherbrandsbymanu/taylormade/taylormadeisets.aspx

Main thing stopping me is the inability to decide what I want
