i am thinkin of resseding 2 fields about 6 acres, just wondered what would it cost per acre . Would have to get contractor to spray plough harrow and seed and was going to put in a few shores as well

dont no about the cost,but if ya had a 2 furrow plough (or bigger) ya should do it yourself and take your time!!!!! ya pobly dont have a power harrow so yall have to get someone to do that!!!! anytime were doing it we go too our local glanbia and they give us a small reseeder (for free i tink) once ya buy the grass seed there!!!! goodluck with it anyway!!!

The cost all depends on the system you intend to use. If you plough, 2 runs of a power harrow and sow it will cost you in the region of 100-110 euro per acre. Spraying will be around 10-15 euro extra.
The other system that we use if land is level is to kill off grass and use a heavy disc harrow for 2 runs to till up ground then use a one pass machine to finish seed bed and sow in the one run, works very well, approx 80-90 euro for this option.
You could also kill off grass and direct seed the new grass using a specific machine but I dont think there is too many of these in the country at the moment, this option allows use of the pasture a lot quicker after work is done as ground is not broken up, approx 40 euro for this option.
Grass seed will be extra on top of all this will cost anywhere from 50 to 60 euro depending on mixture.
If ploughing try to use a reversible plough so as not to leave a furrow in the middle of the field which will be hard level afterwards. And if ploughing yourself try to make sure you bury all grass or it leave it to hard level after as well.

many thanks for the good advice. I am in mayo ,won t be ploughing myself have not got the machinery but would be happy to get the work done for that sort of money. It is wet ground with a lot of rushes so might put in a few shores as well which will push up the price.
