New to cycling , I have been doing a bit of pricing, and I have got prices for a Trek 1.7 ranging from €880.00 upto €1650.00, got prices both sides of the border, but the range is crazy from €1000 to €1650 in the south and €880 to €1250 in the north.

All had the same spec, and some of the lesser quotes offered extras like free service , one offered a helmet and gloves .

    Crazy ............

Are they the same year model?

Presume they are all the same model, and all except one were 08 the other I think was o7 model all the 08 were red white while the other was black red and white, all were 1.7 models.

I'm open to correction, but AFAIK the red/white is the 2009 model and the black/red/white is the 2008 model. The 2009 one has a 105 groupset and I think the 2008 was a 105/ultegra mix. Still, wouldn't account for a huge difference in price...

The red/white one is the 09 model. If some of your quotes are for the 08 model the likelihood is that the distributor put the 08 model on clearance at some point or the shop has been sitting on the stock for a while. With Trek they'll be launching 2010 in July and bikes will begin to become available in August so even the 09 range is heading towards the end of it's cycle. Ahem.

Put a deposit on the 1.9 Trek 09 model today, should have it on the road for next weekend €1060.00

That is an amazing price for a 1.9 09 model. The rrp on that bike is E1700.00 Even the sterling price from Evans is £1150.00
