They should be burned out of Ireland for ever and Sean Quinn with them.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: They have increased my premium by over €120 despite I having a full license over one year now and having 2 years no claims bonus built up and my car devaluing by around 60%.

An absolute ripoff if ever there was and anybody that gives them a cent of thre money are only joking themselves as I found out with the awful help I got after a recent motor accident with an uninsured person. I now will be another €250 out of pocket having to pay to repair my own car due to their unwillingness to pursue the offenders because they are travellers.

I swear to god I would get better satisfaction wipiing my own ass with money than paying it to these c*nts.

    Hibernian here I come.

I see that UK insurers are also stuffing the prices up. One of their excuses is that the insurers' income from investments has dropped due to the crunch. Given what's happened to the Quinns in particular recently, I expect investment returns, or lack thereof, must play a significant role in their charges.

No doubt the rest of them will also up the premiums to give us another kick in the wallet.:(

premiums are going up due to

    - investment returns are down.

    - storms in the summer has lead to an increase of claims which they don't plan for during the summer.

    - recessions lead to an increase in fraudulent claims.

    quote]

Yeah I had the same thing with Quinn Direct, I was getting quotes of in around €550 off other companies, then I rang Quinn Direct and they quoted me €1278  and then the girl had the neck to ask me did I was the Quotation Ref, I said I sure as hell don't coz I definitely will not be proceeding seen as I've been getting quotes for half the price.........

Also on the other issue you had about being in an accident with an uninsured driver, that happened me a few years back when insured with Quinn they were trying to get me to claim on my own policy which I refused to do coz I didn't cause the accident.... anyway cut a long story short, I rang the motor insurers bureau and the guy informed me that themselves and Quinn have an agreement that if a fully comp driver insured with Quinn is in an accident with an uninsured driver Quinn will pay to get ur car repaired without it effecting your policy!!!! I sadi this to the claims advisor I was dealing with and he acted dumb pretending he didn't know about any agreement but rang me back 10mins later to say, actually they do have an agreement with the motor insurers bureau, so just goes to show what slibheens they are, dying to screw you any chance they get.... I was so happy I got one up on them heehee :p

    Sorry for the long post!!!!!

I have the complete opposite story for Quinn

Renewal came through the post 700 grand so down 200 from last year happy days

Checked around and the other quotes where all over €1000.

Though they did royally screw up everything on my account when i moved from FBD over to them.

Claimed they did not get my old disc or the letter i had from FBD in the post but had gotten the direct debit details i posted. I noticed this when they took the incorrect amount of money out of my bank account so they decided to charge me full whack and zero NCB

    Rang up asking what happen

The girl said they had gotten my bank details but no old disc or letter from FBD so had to charge me full whack.

I turned around to the girl and said thats strange i put them all in the one envelope. Can i put you on hold for a minute please, yea fire away

Came back Everything is ok and we have found it we will recalculate the money being taken from your bank account

were they trying to defraud you or had they made a genuine mistake? i would steer well clear of any company that acted in this manner with your money!

I think all insurance companies are the same. I was with Hibernian direct since I was 17, 6 years NCB, completed the ignition course and I'm just about to turn 26 but they quoted an increase of €300 over last year.

Needless to say that I shopped around and found 25Plus who gave my fully comp with NCB protection for €50 less than my quote with Hibernian last year.

Sent hibernian a letter of complaint and they said they were investigating, but it's not as if I care - I'll never go back to them

www.nononsense.ie... i moved to them and found them the cheapest around
Pick and choose what you want in your insurance package and its all underwritten by FBD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,933 ✭✭✭daheff

    +1

last year my quote was about 600 with no NCB. This year i have 1 year NCB(which they say is worth a discount of about 250Eur) which is now about 700! So without NCB the cost has gone up by 350 (which is a 58% increase)

cant really get any quotes less than Quinn though!

    Nope.

You are not their ideal client. They want the 17-30 year old with the big car and learner permit.

i was with Quinn for 3 years and the quote went up this year by 400. Rang them to see what the story was and they said all premiums had gone up. Rang around and got a great quote from Bitton insurance. Rany quinn back to see if they'd match it and keep my Business and save me some time hassle, but no they refused. So i just moved on. Shop around there are so many good deals around at the moment

Would never in a million years use Quinns, bloody rip off and was delighted when FBD halved what Quinn quoted me 2 years ago when I thought about changing from Eagle. Have never and will never even ring them again :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Those RSA chancers wanted almost 500 from me this year. Quinns only wanted 360. No brainer really.

i recently renewed by policy with Quinn.I have 4 years NCB and Full license for 4 years.I couldnt get a cheaper qoute anywer only with Quinn.Hibernian wouldnt quote me,Allianz gave me a qoute of 2500euro,Foley&Sheridan was 2800euro.Quinn could qoute me at 1100euro,take about a difference. It was on a 1.9SDI VW Golf. Its stupid how there can be such a huge difference.

[Hibernian are just as bad and they require you to do an ignition course if you are to get a good deal on your premium. Anyways all premiums have gone up. It's a recession, more people make boggy claims as they need the money...who pays for this...US.

Completely agree with Quinn being so expensive. I shopped around and saved myself 300 euro going with 123.ie.
