    Hi all,

I was wondering if there is anyone on Boards who has married in New York. My Fiance and I are planning to get married there next year and I would be thrilled with any advice or reccomendations. The wedding will be small but I want to give the guests a fabulous time, seeing as they will have travelled. Hopefully!!
I was quoted for dinner at the Waldorf at €300.00 per person but am wondering is there anywhere else that people would recommend?
    Many thanks

Hi Katmckeown. I live in NY and am planning to get married here next year. There are so many brilliant places in NY for small and big weddings. What size of wedding are you planning. R you planning a Reception type dinner or just dinner in a nice restaurant??

    Hi there,

we are planning a small wedding. Will be anything between 4 and 16 people. I was hoping to have the ceremony either in City Hall or a suite in a good hotel. Afterwards, dinner at a nice resturant and lots of wine. If you have any suggestions I would be delighted to hear them. Also do you know where there is a good flower market in New York?
    Many thanks

I am not sure what kind of food you are into but here are some of my favorites:

    http://www.oneifbyland.com/ - Downtown - Everything is Excellent
    www.thecapitalgrille.com - Steakhouse - Midtown - Everything is Excellent
http://www.rainbowroom.com/rainbow_room.htm - I have never been but heard so much about it and would be really classy for a small wedding visiting NY.
www.SpiritofNewYork.com - This is an excellent Dinner Cruise. The food is very good, atmosphere is brilliant and the views of New York are Amazing.

But there really is so many options in NYC. Just google Romantic Restaurants in NYC and you will see all that come up. Another great website to check Restaurants is www.zagat.com.

I dont know about the wholesale flowers as I havent looked into that yet.

Best of Luck with the planning and Thank you very much.

    Hi there,
Not sure of the name for a flower market in NY, but was watching Brides of Franc (love that show :) ) on rte last sunday night, the wedding he was doing was in NY and showed him going into an amazing trade flower shop, maybe see if rte has the episode up on their website?
The wedding was held in the Boathouse in Central Park, a really beautiful simple venue, not sure if you could rent out parts for such a small party though! Central park anyway would be a brilliant place for the photos.

You should go for cocktails one of the nights to the top of the Roccafeller Center, meant to be amazing with great views at night!
My family & I stayed in the Waldorf a few years ago, it has it's charm, but the rooms were a huge letdown for the price we paid and the restaurant that we ate in once or twice was ok-ish, but pricey and nothing special, I'd say you could do better.

My parents stayed in the Pierre hotel beside Central Park a few years ago for a special anniversary and loved it, they might have a small dining room for functions, check out http://www.tajhotels.com/pierre/

The Plaza Hotel overlooking Central Park is also meant to be amazing, but not sure on dinner prices!

Best of luck with your big day, NY will be an amazing place to tie the knot!!

RE: flowers in the Franc show, I had to look up the details of the shop for a friend who will be visiting NY soon to look into the possibility of having her wedding there, I found the episode on the RTE site, here's the link, the shop is shown at about 13mins in, from the sign outside, think it's called Dutch Flower Line, not 100% sure though, hope it helps!!!

Thank you very, very much Becah. Brilliant advice especially about the Waldorf. You are right very expensive for dinner but was willing to pay it if the food was amazing. Have a feeling that I would have been very disappointed. You have saved me a lot of work but including the links. Thanks again
