Similar to An Scúad Bás's thread on Ammo, I'm just after getting my first GBB and I'm wondering what is the best value and where to get gas for it. Whoops, its a KJ Works M9.

Abbey green gas is slightly more powerful than Ultrair Green gas by about 20fps on average. it has a red label though so sometimes people dont realise it green gas. Propane is slightly more powerful again but it doesnt have any lub in it. you'll need to keep the gun lubed every 10 mags or so. propane used to be a lot cheaper than it is these days. its about 17 quid a bottle now and when i started airsofting it was 9 quid so its not as good value as it used to be. you'll also need an adapter to use it from the bottle. Dont buy the madbull one or any of the metal/brass ones. once the tip gets a little worn the gas pisses out the side when your filling it. with the AI plastic one it moulds to te shape of te nozzle better and fills a lot easier without wastage.

Thanks for all that guys. Can you get better value if you buy in quantity and is it better value to order from abroad?

depends on what you are after
if it economy then Ultra Air.
the Ultra Air can holdes 1000 mls of gas
if its speed then Abbey Predator gas loaded to a higher pressure so more FPS.
the Abbey Predator can holds 700 mls even though the can is slightly taller then Ultra Air

The abbey has a plastic nozzle too as apposed to the ultrair metal nozzle. the metal nozzles are a pain in the a$$, especially with TM Gas blowbacks. the gas all escapes out the sides.

Also, pressurised canisters cant be shipped by air so buying from abroad mightn't be all that beneficial. it'll probably cost you as much except it'll take ages.

    Propane, 8.99 for a 400g can...

    Density of Liquid propane = 582 kg/m^3
    which is 582,000g/1000000 cm3 or 0.582 g/cm3

    So a 400g can has a volume of 687.29 cm3 or 687ml.

Am I right? I woulda thought there was more....If I am correct, then its 0.013 as compared to...

Edit: Mistake above, how much does green gas cost, average prices lads?
