    Hi

Can anyone please advise me on what I should do - I have been on the dole since October and have finally got some part time work starting in May. - 3 days a week. Can i claim for the other three days I am not working? How do I do this and if I can receive benefit will I still have to sign on monthly and collect money from the post office.

    Many thanks

Yes you can claim for the other 3 days you aren't working.
Just tell the dole you will be working 3 days a week and want to sign for the other 3 days.
I work 3 days myself and sign for the other 3 days. You have to fill in a form every week for the dole and leave it in their office. It is a very straight forward form - just marking the days you worked and the days you didn't work, and getting your employer to sign it as well. Then you will receive a cheque in the post every week. There isn't really all that much to it.
You get 4 forms at a time from the dole and usually when the last one is up, they will automatically send you 4 more.

It just takes a while to sort out a claim when you apply at first, but once it is sorted, it is very easy to do each week.
    I hope this helps.

    Thanks Graceland

    Great info.

Just one last thing -when bringing the forms to the office do I have to just hand in or can I post. I live 20 miles from dole office.

Thanks or your help, much appreciated.

Well because I live close to dole office, I just hand mine in at the main reception desk, but I'm sure there would be no problem posting them either, as it is only a matter of them receiving them. It's not as though you actually have to speak to someone when you leave the forms in.
If you need to know anything else, just ask.
