    well e-mail actually!!!:D

I had applied for a job i really wanted, got a reply this morning from the owner of the company that ''due to the downturn in the industry etc etc the position is shelved for the moment''.

i want to send a reply that will covey to him how absolutely desperate i am to get that job if it's re-advertised in the future, without sounding - well - desperate. anyone have a clue how i should word this?

whatever i type just looks dumb.. :(

Soliciting for roles can often go against you so bear that in mind.

What I would do it say:

    Dear so and so

Thank you for your email. Could you please keep my details on file should this role become available again?

    Kind regards

    Artyeva

    Dear sir,

Thank you for your prompt and honest reply.

When any changes in the situation might occur, I would be interested in hearing from you and re-applying for this role.

    Something kinda like that?

I'd say thank you for taking the time to read my CV and responding to my application. I would appreciate if you would keep my application on file in the event that the position becomes vacant again.

    Dear Sir

I am distraught at the thought of not getting this job, I will forever more wake each morning with a deep profound emptiness feeling. I promise I will ask at the job centre daily if this job has reappered and will hopefully one day rejoice in ecstacy at the opportunity of applying for this job once more.

    With Deep and Sorrowful Regret

and make use of Bold and Underline to emphasise your point, like in your original post.

I would go all out and regularly check in with them (say once a month) - it might help your CV stand out and get them to remember who you are and then when a vacancy does come up (and in time one will) they will know you're really mega keen.

    Something along the lines of

'Thank you for your letter of x. I am sorry to hear that you have had to put the position on hold and I hope the economic climate improves for you very soon.

I would really like to work for company y in the role of ABC. Please let me know if it would be acceptable for me to contact you periodically to check the status of the position?

    Yours,

Then, I would phone once a month to check what the position is - always be upbeat and positive when you phone..........

    Bye!

I could really see that backfiring. Doubt they'd want to be hassled and it would seem a bit disrespectful to do that in my opinion.
