Social Welfare + Fraud

    Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

I am wondering if anyone else has been tempted to report people who are claiming the dole but who are able to work full time as well as they get paid under the counter.

For example a girl I used to work with is claiming dole, rent allowance, fuel allowance, has 2 medical cards (Not sure how is has 2) and is working a full time job in a pub 5 days a week.

She has no real bills to pay as the state pays for them and she is constantly buying clothes and out every night of the week.

She is coming out with €600 alone with just her wages and dole money.

Is anyone ever tempted to report these people, is there a way to?

These situations drive me mad especially in the current climate.

If you are sure its welfare fraud and not one of the back to work schemes or a Lotto win, then your taxes are paying for her lifestyle. Simple.

    Hi

I know its fraud because she goes around boasting about it.

I hate that dishonesty and there's probably a lot of it going on in the country.

    Hi,

Yeah im wondering weather to report a neighbour of ours too, she brags to other neighbours about how much she gets from welfare, she basically is living in her boyfriends house he is not supposed to be there and she claims rent allowance for her and their child, he owns the house nearly outright because she said he inherited his parents house to buy this new one,

They are really disturbing the neighbours because they have parties nearly every night, and they have had street brawls a number of times where the police get called and we are all disturbed, They have been sent letters from the management company to stop the noise pollution, if they were tenants they would be evicted by now but as home owners there is nothing really they can do, but i was thinking she is a tenant there because she gets the rent allowance, She also said the welfare called around one day and she hid her fella in the wardrobe.

    Would you report it?

I don't see any reasons not to report her. Especially if she is boasting about what she does she definitely had it coming. There are other genuinely hit people out there who will not be helped because she's milking the system.

Why? That is absolutely no excuse. I hate ridiculous statements like this.

    OP report her.

Report her to social welfare immediately.

You can also make an anonymous good citizen report to the tax office to report her employer who (by the info in your post) sounds like they are paying her cash in hand, which is illegal.

Report her and the place thats paying her cash in hand too. their dodging tax too.

I don't see why anyone would have any issues with reporting people like this?

They're robbing money out of your pocket!
I'd be bulling if I ever came across someone like that.

Report her... ppl like her make me sick, that's why rest of us get screwed when we get into genuine, real trouble

I get out of bed every day at 7am,get home at 7/8 pm most days.Because of the increase in taxes(due to the increase in claimaints like the person mentioned).Anyway i get to go out once every 2 weeks due to mortgages, car payments etc etc.I would love to have the life that person has but i dont cos i work alot and pay my own bilss and taxes.

Report her ,especially if she's boasting because while she lives it up thousands others who deserve it are suffering

Problem: I've cheated on my partner/spouse. Should I tell them?
PI Response: No of course not.

Problem: I know someone who is cheating the system.
PI Response: This person makes me sick! Get them to accept responsibility for and deal with the consequences of their behaviour at once!

    I love PI.

When you cheat on your partner /spouse it doesnt affect the nation.Grant it the subject of this PI(the fraudster) is a drop in the ocean but its that ocean of ineligible /fraudulently claiming people that are also causing problem.

i think these people should be reported.with the state the country is in ,its people like that, who are ****ing it up for the genuine cases.its totally anonymous so people need have no worries that they will ever be called to give proof/evidence.a letter/phone call to the relevent section with the persons name and address and details of what they are doing illegally will be investigated

    The system relies on us.

If I see a guy and I know he routinely rapes girls, and I know where he does it, should I then say "ahh...thats the Guards for you....never doing anything"??

    No.

The Police and the Courts rely on ME.

I am under an obligation to report what I know.

Its what used to be called a "Common Informer".

Under Irish law, today, here and now, the failure to pass on knowledge about known or suspected criminal activites is itself a crime.

If you know or suspect somebody is on the make, you MUST do your best to bring your suspicions to the attention of the relevant authorities.

Hi OP - did you report this person? if so, what happened?

I know of someone who is working and claiming JA & Rent Supplement. Is on their 3rd Holiday since January - I Have reported them to the Central Control office who have informed me it could take Weeks to investigate! - they have to send out call to local welfare office and they will deal with it when they get round to it.

Also rang community welfare officer who says they need to know exact location of where they work and what times they work from - problem is they work on different buildings.. and varied hours - so it's looks going to impossible to catch them - looks like they're going to get away with it..

    GREAT SYSTEM alright

I don't blame the system- I blame people like you who put their heads in the sand and don't want to know about things. She is taking vital resources from someone who needs them- and every possible effort should be made to report her. I am fully aware of the increased workload the DSFA staff are under- bear with them- she will get her comeuppance in due course. I have zero sympathy for leaches like her- when there are people sleeping rough on our streets every night of the week.
