Has anyone been summonsed to Court recently for litter prosecution at a recycling depot? I left a bag at a recycling depot after I finished recycling and was caught on CCTV. I left the bag beside other bags and rather than being issued a fine I was summonsed directly to court. I was told I could get fined anything up to…

Has anyone been summonsed to Court recently for litter prosecution at a recycling depot? I left a bag at a recycling depot after I finished recycling and was caught on CCTV. I left the bag beside other bags and rather than being issued a fine I was summonsed directly to court. I was told I could get fined anything up to €3000 and get a criminal record. I know this is probably for serious convictions but just wanted to check if anyone else has had the same unfortunate experience...

I saw a number of these cases recently in the District Court.

The Council were taking a very hard line, having invested in surveillance of some recycling centres.

They were even prosecuting people for permitting their vehicles to be used by someone who littered.
