    They're saying this is a belated april fool's joke, but if it is, its a shame. I thought it was a genuinely fantastic idea.

    Would certainly be a genuinely good idea if it was voluntary. Coercion generally not so good... But what about the likes of postmen? I presume they are just assigned to a bike?

    I imagine this will raise the profile of cycling amongst the Gardai.
