Does anyone remember back in the 80's when Coke brought all these yoyo experts over to visit local communities and do yoyo demos? They wore red jackets like butlin staff or something and you could but Coke and Fanta yoyos, including glow in the dark ones.

Yeah. The best ones were heavier with a clear rim. The other ones were lighter and had a red rim. Spent hours cutting off the circulation to my finger and never learnt anything apart from "rocking the cradle" and "the cable car".

Yeah and then a few months later Opal Fruits (AKA Starburst) came out with the same. I have tonnes of them somewhere.

I remember those, it was around 1981. And I remember a few young experts on the Late Late Show showing off their skills using five or six of them at a time.

anyone remember the coca cola 'get the buzz' campaign in the mid 90's? it was a little radio

I do so remember them! Not far off the time of the Rubik's cube craze. I had a Coca Cola one, my friend had the Fanta one. Remember the ad with your man showing you what you could do with it....the walking the dog - where you kind of threw it in front of you, the one where you made a triangle out of the string and swung the spinner in and out like a pendulum:).

I remember the yoyo craze the American "Experts", 3 or 4 of them arrived outside our newsagents one blistering sunny day, every shop on the street closed and every kid watched in awe of them doing their tricks. Some of us got free yoyos if we were able to do the tricks. It's been all over the world & is still popular in some countries here's a link to watch once again

Then they were all rammed into a small van and driven off to the next town to exhibit their immense talents.

Were they on rollerblades too btw??

I remember they came to our primary school and all the pupils and teachers were out in the school yard watching them do their tricks, think we were given a yoyo each but not sure for definite.

Oh yeah, there's a blast from the past. I seem to remember being disappointed that the spinners had a nasty habit of changing direction and that the tricks were pretty lame (a.k.a. I couldn't do them properly) Oh well.
