I've a few duck decoys that need a paint job, can anyone recommend the best type of paint to use, obviously it'll have to be a matt finish and water-proof but has anyone done it before or am I just wasting my time and should I just go and buy new decoys?

Try get your hands on Humbrol Enamel paints. Usually used by modellers, there is a VAST range of colours and available in matt or glossy. The model shop in Capel St in Dublin has a good selection, the tins are tiny but not expensive.

    Paimei,

I touch up my decoys every year but sometimes a full body paint job is needed. Remove all loose paint and give them a good wash.
Scuff the decoys up a bit with a green scouring pad and rinse. I use a good quality flat/matt oil based primer and paint. As Milkerman suggests model making paint or a matt aerosol paint along with acrylic brush paint will work also.

You can use the links bellow as a reference for colours etc.

    Good luck.
