Dell vostro died

    Hi,

My dell vostro 1700 appeared to just die this evening when web browsing. It just shut down and would not start up again. It was quite warm to touch under the base and when plugged into the a/c adaptor the light does not even register to show that it is connected. I realise a number of laptops have had difficulty due to the nvidia chipset issue but I am not sure if this is related.

I was just wondering what my recourse is in this situation. The system is about 15months old and 3 months out of warranty. I would expect regardless of warranty I should still be covered by regular consumer law is that correct?

I have emailed dell technical support and shall give them a call tomorrow. To complicate matters further it was purchased from dell ireland and I am currently based in Sweden.

    Opinions and suggestions appreciated.

    Regards,

    Woden

I'd say your in a spot of bother.
You didn't extend the warranty so they won't do it for free I'd say.

If it's a commonly known failure due to defective parts I'd say you could be covered by law.
    Good Luck :)
