NCT & Driving Test

Hi, just got called for my test there a week or two ago, its on the 20th May.
I've a bit of a problem as the NCT isn't up to date. We've applied to get it done but because of the recent surge in demand because of the new law coming in the soonest we can get it done is mid-June.
I'm just wondering, will I be allowed take the test without the NCT even though I'm waiting to get the NCT done? Or am I just better off re-scheduling my test?
    Thanks

The tester wont even sit in the car if it's due an nct and doesn't have one.

If you can get a loan of a car or a rental it'd be better than giving up the test place that you have imo, depends how comfortable you are driving other people's cars.

It depends on the year of your car. If it's an 05 & this is your 1st NCT, the tester will take you out as he will not know when in 09 your car is due for NCT, so for test purposes all 05 vehicles will be acceptable up to 31st Dec.
If however your car is older than you'll have to reschedule or use a driving school car

if your willing to travel look at some of the other NCT centers for a better date. I know there was a massive waiting list in Kilkenny and a bunch of people tired Waterford and got dates within a week [though that was a couple of months ago, don't know what the backlog is like now]

Yeah its an 01 car so that suggestion won't really work.

I don't think I'd really feel comfortable driving a different car, I dunno I guess that's just me! I'll look into trying to get the NCT somewhere else though, thanks for the suggestion.

I think I might just reschedule the test, to be honest I wouldn't mind the extra few weeks of practice! Thanks for the help

Probably wrong but i would have thought they would let you away with it provided the car is scheduled to be tested.

If a guard stopped you and found your nct out of date because of the waiting time for the test he'd hardly penalize you- would he?
