    Folks,
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 640M and thinking of upgrading to Thinkpad. As my wife is elf employed I would be looking for something that has quite a large amount of memory to run accounts software, payroll software plus MS office.
I am thinking of the IBM thinkpad? any thoughts on this? Also how much would it cost?

    Many thanks,
    Wayne

They're known as Lenovo Thinkpads these days. What's your budget OP as we could pull anything out of Lenovo's range, from 500 to 2000+.

I was thinking about €2,500- I'm just doing the reasearch at the mo.Ideally with Windows XP-I find Vista very slow.

As far as Laptops go, that budget would buy you the top of the range. But i have to ask specifically what will it be used for as in specifically what programs? as that is A LOT to spend on a laptop, as i'm sure you already know;). Do you need a laptop to do the work? For that budget you could buy both a very good desktop and a laptop for when you need it.

We are running Collsoft payroll and Thesaurs Solution Plus. Maybe two grand is a bit too much. I was looking at the Thinkpad T series with all the security features etc. It seems well built too.
