    Howya folks,

I wanna give the ESB 5k beach race in Sandymount a lash on 9 June. Totally new to all this so what kind of standard would there be in a race like this? My running abilities are average at present but not for long as I have started training seriously as of earlier this evening. Also, do you just call up the organisers and have them put your name down for it or would you register through BHAA maybe?

It will be all standards, its a good race too. You will be able to pay on the day 15 euro normally for non members but the bhaa is great and they have other races that might interest you, so check out their website for a membership form. Membership I think is 15 euro and for every race after is 10 euro.

Cheers Woddle. Great to hear it's all standards, will be interesting to see how I fare. So it is totally fine to just show up on the evening (it's a Tuesday) and just pay there and then, i.e. there's no limit on the number of people who can join? I guess the only way to register is if you are a BHAA member already?

Figure there prob isn't an upper limit, esp since it's a beach!

That's right woddle - membership is €15. Application forms available from www.bhaa.ie if you want to save a bit of time and fill in before you head to race.

There's a nice 5k road race in Leixlip celestial in a couple of weeks time if you want to establish a basline time before you head to the beach ;-)
