Hibernian Provisional Ignition - Any good?

So, I'm thinking of applying to do the Hibernian Provisional Ignition course which is one hour long and carried out by an instructor from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

It costs E75 for the hour and the instructor will assess your abilties.

I was wondering if anyone here had done this and if they found it to be beneficial?

Or would I just be better off spending E75 on say, the likes of a two hour pre-test / mock-test on the driving test route with a regular driving instructor?

    Any feedback appreicated, thanks!

Is the idea of the Hibernian courses not to contribute toward reduced insurace for you?

I did the regular Ignition and must say I thought it was good.
Assume this is a similar thing, assessing your driving and giving you pointers.

best of my knowledge you get the money back if you pass...... and allows them to assess your driving so they can give you the cheapest insurance quote that they are willing to offer (others might still be cheaper).

Random, it mainly is yes, however I thought that it would probably be beneficial for everyone (not just those wanting a reduction on their insurance) to have an IAM instructor give some critical feedback on their driving, give advice etc...

Magnus, that's cool glad to hear you got on ok with it! How did it compare to say an hour with a driving instructor, assuming you did take some lessons beforehand that is..

PCPhoto - yeah you get the money refunded on the regular Ignition course (Not the provisional one) however you *only* get it back if you sign up for insurance with Hibernian afterwards and only if your car is 1.6 or smaller.

You can just get a lesson from an iam instructor and will provide you with the same information if you are not using the course to get a cheaper insurance quote
