Football pools are up and the hurling will follow shortly. Discussion should go here about the competitions for the most part. Keeps the prediction threads nice and clean.

BTW I am planning on retaining my football title :)

Pfft, the hurling is where it's at this year. Somebodys going to have to do something about Gingy though. A bit of ghost editing his predictions perhaps? :)

Now now Daysha, I'll have none of that! Well measured predictions and a decent GAA knowlegde- that's all!

Looking forward to it already, I just used the league as a springboard, but training is going well and I'd hope to peak during championship;)

(My 2 cents on the Championship Pools) Not a huge fan. I know that it's probably tried and tested, but I'd definitely prefer one similar to the leagues, were you just predict it during the week leading up to the game, (to take form, injuries etc.. into account.) It's tough enough predicting the correct score in the Ulster Final, not knowing the teams and how they're fairing up during the season. A bit of guessing needed before 10th of May.

Agree with Gingy, would rather the league format than the championship one.
A lot of things can happen to teams over 3 months before we get predicting again for the QFs.
But still going to try and get cruiserweights title though:D

I was just a couple of points off top spot in the league when I had to pull out due to missing a gameweek. I will win this. Did not do myself justice.

I'll have to come up with a ridiculous prediction this year and put a bet on with Cruiserweight, in the same way I did last year:p

Thanks for the feedback guys. The beauty (IMO) is that these types of predictions are more difficult to make. You nail your colours to the mast and you cannot simply pick a different team each round, depending on how your pick does.

One major difference between this competition and the league are the number of games that happen every week. There are a lot less games in the championship. While the league competition has ran quite successfully, based on previous experiences people forget to update predictions or submit them on time for different stages of the competition.

The points difference was only added in a few years ago and helps to seperate people with pretty similar predictions in terms of teams.

I'd go along with that too. Like you said earlier Gingy, anyone with a bit of GAA knowledge can make the odd correct prediction two days before the match, but what we've got here is a lot more challenging.

As Cruiserweight said guessing the championship results can be extremely tough. I am leaving it to the last minute, incase there is injuries in training by some of the smaller counties in football. The small counties can cause shocks if they have a full roster of players. I have some ideas that will see me win this year:):)
