    Hi

Recently my laptop (Evesham) screen stopped working so I've borrowed a VGA cable and a laptop (Sony Vaio) from a friend however when I connect them up and choose the VGA screen option when i press fn + F7 it goes to a black screen.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

laptops only OUTPUT a vga signal , so you would need to test the laptop on a MONITOR

if you are talking about a MONITOR then it will only work if the refresh rate and resolution are in range , try doing the Fn F7 before you get into windows
