Is it possible to purchase a 2nd NTL Digital Box?
No subscription, or reasons why... just buy one?

If not... what happens if you damage/break/lose your existing Digital Box... or it gets stolen, and you want to replace it?

Thank you for any information on this.

Best to just contact UPC. No point even if you were to buy a replacement box from some illegitimate reseller without having a valid viewing card.

You cannot buy any set-top-box from UPC/NTL.

When you take out a subscription with them they provide you with a suitable STB for the duration of your subscription with them (how ever long that may be).

If your STB is faulty/stolen or has any other issues it is up to them to replace it.

It is NOT like sky when after a year you own the equipment. UPC/NTL will always own it & it is illegal to sell or buy them for any purpose.

When I subscribed to NTL I got a receiver. When I upgraded the box to digital box they let me keep the old box

No problem. Just contact UPC, you can be sure they've come across this many times before. There may be a nominal fee for losing the box but I would doubt it would be much. If it was stolen, a Garda report should easily cover you.

In most cases it would cost more to get the box back from you than it's worth & they would have costs for disposal of them. These are very cheap units indeed. Infact I still have a modem and STB belonging to them from when I cancelled NTL a few years ago. They were to get in contact about collecting them, but they never did.
