    Jamie Behan

Over the past decade Jamie Behan has established himself as one of Ireland's foremost techno DJs, regularly ripping it up at clubs across Ireland and beyond, from the UK to Europe to the Middle East. Along the way he has shared the decks with the likes of Dave Clarke, Dj Bone, Adam Beyer, Ben Sims, Cj Bolland, Technasia, Dave Tarrida, Mark Williams, Hardcell, The Advent, Kevin Saunderson, Paul Mac, and Mark Williams amongst others. Influenced by formative experiences sneaking into clubs at the age of 14 to hear legendary DJs such as Derrick Carter and Gayle San spin, he began experimenting with mixing two hi-fi tape decks together before in 1996 he bought his first set of decks and started DJing in his hometown of Waterford. From there he relocated to Cork, where he has been based ever since and over the years he has brought his distinctive, fast, funky 3-deck fusion of techno influences to almost every techno night in Ireland from his own Bastardo Electrico club-nights at the legendary Sir Henry's, residencies at influential nights such as Bass, to headline slots at clubs across the country in Dublin, Waterford, Limerick, Tralee, Galway, and Belfast, alongside a three year stint presenting a popular radio show on the award-winning dance music radio station, Radio Friendly. Over the past few years he has presented a web-radio show and contributed podcasts for Ireland's foremost electronic music e-zine, Electronic Ireland, of which he is a founding member and for the last two years has been resident at one of Cork's premier underground club-nights, 'Schmutzig', for which he received a nomination for 'Best Resident DJ' at the inaugural Irish Dance Music Awards, whilst 2008 saw Jamie sign to Real Bookings, a worldwide Dj agency where he takes his place on a roster that includes the likes of Dj Bone, Juan Atkins, Orlando Voorn, and Aux 88. Aside from rocking dance floors, running club nights, presenting radio shows, campaigning in Cork City for longer club opening hours, and writing for the Irish based dance music magazine Slick-DJ, he recently set-up his own label, 'Bastardo Electrico Recordings', a label which will focus on dirty, quirky underground techno taking influences from Detroit, Chicago, and European techno. The first release on the label, the Blabbermouth Ep by legendary Dublin Dj Sunil Sharpe, has been picking up support and plaudits from the likes of Dave Clarke, Neil Landstrumm, Dave Tarrida, Anderson Noise, and Grovskopa amongst many others and acts as the perfect precursor to forthcoming releases by Detroit's mighty Dj Bone, Mikrowave Record's Kevin Gorman, Electronic Ireland head honcho Mike McCoy, and from Jamie himself. In line with the ethos of his label, Jamie's DJ sets refuse to be pigeon-holed into a particular sound yet at the same time are grounded in a kind of dark electronic funk that moves from Detroit to Chicago via Stockholm, Berlin, and Madrid, incorporating techno, minimal, electro, and house, all twisted together into a mutant groove, an eclectic fusion of sound which he will be showcasing on upcoming releases in 2009 for Subject Detroit, Nice and Nasty, and on his own label.
