    Hi all,
    Is there such thing as a program where I could drag a window around an area of my screen and it would record in some type of video format what happens in the area covered. Something similar to Capture or vista snipping tool but in video format.

    Not free but free eval avilable. Has every feature you could need like partial screen capture and you can edit the produced file like any normal video. It can output the final file in any number of formats depending on the destination like youtube mpg avi etc.

    I use it all the time to produce training videos.

    I use Camstudio http://camstudio.org/ it's free and I find it very good.
