    Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone can help or advise on communion money.

Its my godson's communion next week and I am giving him money in a card, also going to organise to spend a day out with him following that. I just wondering what others have put into cards for godkids.

I heard stories of ppl putting 100e into cards for their god kids and 50e for nieces/nephews - has inflation it communion cards now too?

    Advice greatly appreciated!

People do vary with what they think is acceptable to give so it's definitely a personal choice. To me €50 is way more than enough to hand a godchild and I'd lean to giving €20 for nieces and nephews.

In our family the godparents buy the watch/jewellery - something that the kids can keep.

Ya, I agree I think a gift would be much nicer. My aunt and godmother got me a green stone crucifix(marble I think) to put on a chain from Guatamala, I still have it and value it more than I would have any money. Something like that might be nice (my aunt did get most of my brothers and sisters and cousins different crucifixes from different countries)

If you are near Dublin - Weirs on Grafton Street do little silver animals, its something to keep that's not too girly where godsons are concerned (got him one for his christening and one for the communion)

Gave my godchild €50 (3yrs ago) and he was delighted. Its defo enough cause they are only 8/9 yr olds and don't value money.

If you are thinking of a gift, why not wait til you take him on his day out and ye can look for something together. At least you know its something he'll like and ye can have fun choosing something
