    Hi folks, apologies if this is in the wrong place.
    I'm rying to view cctv footage that has the file extension .rdb
    None of my usual players seem to be able to play it.
    Any suggestions, or links to free software to play it?

    I've been searching the net and had no joy so far.

    Cheers

    It may well be a standard format, just renamed with a different extension. Have you tried looking in the first few bytes of the file with a hex viewer / editor to see if there's anything there that might give the game away? Or just rename to .avi and see if, for example, VLC player will play it?

    your first stop is the manufacturers web site.
    then search by their name / software name / parent company name

    or try this

    http://www.google.ie/search?q=.rdb++cctv

    3rd hit is http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/rdb,
    File Type 3 Wavelet Video Images File
    Category Video Files
    Common? No
    File Description Video format known as "wavelet video" used by CCTV security cameras such as the Security VideoCam; can be played backed using the QuickView software included with the security camera hardware.

    RDB files are often saved along with .60D files.
    Program(s) that open rdb files
    Windows Windows QuickView
