    Norman Nodge - An Introduction:

Norman Noczinski, better known as Norman Nodge is a resident at Germany’s infamous Berghain / Panoramabar club where he shares Saturday nights & Sunday mornings with Ben Klock, Len Faki, Shed, Marcel Dettman, Nick Hoppner et al. He was born in Leipzig, Germany and later moved to Berlin where he studied to be a Lawyer but it was music that was his first love.

Often referred to as a 'mentor' by his fellow Berghain resident DJs, Nodge has been DJing and throwing parties since the mid 90's. It was at one of these parties that he gave Marcel Dettman his first performance, experimenting with Ableton and Reason loops. He modestly puts it - 'It was Marcel who gave me my break by inviting me to play at Berghain'.

After many years DJing and promoting parties in the city of Berlin it was soon time for Nodge to begin releasing music...in a short space of time he has 'Nodged' up a number releases on fellow Berghain resident, the aforementioned Marcel Dettman's label - MDR and Berghain’s inhouse techno label - Ostgut Tontrager. To date his greatest production success has been his track - Native Rhythm Electric, which went on to be a a big club hit for both Nodge and Ostgut Tontrager appearing on 12" and on Marcel Dettmans mix compilation - Berghain 02, a mix CD showcasing the sound of Berghain. His production style mirrors that of his DJ sets - melodic, minimal, industrial techno.

We caught with Norman Nodge recently to have a chat with prior to his long over due Dublin debut "May 30th, The Underground, Kennedys

"Q: How does one go from studying to be a Lawyer to become a resident
at one of Europes most successful club? Are you still a practising lawyer?

A: It is quite simple. I have been djing since my university years and that
is over 15 years ago. Musically seen the good old days of vinyl. And yes
I am working as a lawyer covering almost everything from divorce to
    criminal cases.

Q: Is it true you gave fellow resident Marcel Dettman his break while
promoting various parties and club nights in Berlin? Tell us a little about
these parties you where involved in.

A: No, honestly he gave me the break by bringing me to the Berghain to
play. It is true that I booked Marcel to the parties that I organized together
with André Lodemann in Brandenburg, which is the state surrounding Berlin.
In those years there were lots of interesting places to promote
parties. In the 90ies we booked Felix Da Housecat, Ellen Allien and many
    others.

Q: Your production on MDR has received critical acclaim especially “Native
Rhythm Electric” have any new releases coming out or is a album in progress?

A: My favourite musical format is 12". I´m working on several tracks which
might be released some day on MDR or Ostgut. And I´m remixing tracks for
other labels. I don´t plan my output.

Q: What is the secret to Berghain and Panorama's success, has the current
    economic climate effected crowds?

A: Honestly you have to come and check it on your own. All I can say is that
I am happy to play there and have the crowd that likes what I do.
Economically seen: Everybody needs to party sometimes, no matter how
    much money they have.

    Q: What?s in your bag

    A: (in no particular order)
    Mark Broom - Ravedays
Shed - Another Wedged Chicken (Martyn Remix)
Alex Cortex - Non Rigid Designator
    Gerald Mitchell - Los Sunshine
    Dasha Rush - Son R

Q: Is there anyone you would like to work with?

A: When the time is right: with my sons!

Q: What can we expect from your show in Dublin?

A: Solid workout. No fillers - just killers! And a lot of bass. If the system
    allows."
