    Hey guys,

    Am thinking of buying Itouch after messing round with a mates for last week or so. I am used to creative's and archos and so have never owned an ipood. Few questions i have;

    1. How does Itunes affect ownership of a multimedia player? (ie do you find yourself restricted alot by it and the need to convert items?)

    2. Regarding last point, How much conversion is needed for music and video files?

    3. Is jailbreaking it a must for use of the majority of apps out there?

    4. Whats best price for one? Have found a 16gb Touch delievered for €253.

    Thanks for any help guys

    on Point 3. New Ipod Touchs Can have Applications installed on them without Jailbreaking them.

    Coming from an iPhone user's perspective, but it's still relevant.

    Absolutely not. I have downloaded mp3's from other providers such as 7-digital (highly recommended, btw, cheaper than iTunes and not protected). I've also had no problem importing CDs that I own.

    For music, none really, but iTunes will do it for you. For video, it needs to be in MP4 format, I use a piece of software called Super - it handles pretty much any format, and converts to almost any format.

    From an iPhone perspective, I wouldn't think so. However, there are a number of nifty apps/system hacks that are not on the App Store, such as Backgrounder (allows you to run apps in the background).

    Right guys, just got my 32gb Itouch delivered to my house, so will be waiting for me when i get home. Apart from charging it and adding music and videos, whats the first thing I should do with/get for it?

    Any Apps that are a must?
    Settings that need changing?
    etc etc

    Have a look at the various threads here on must-have applications. There's also a thread about tips and tricks for your iTouch iPod Touch/iPhone.
