Anyone heard anything good, bad or indifferent about this Children's Lit MA via distance learning? (It's associated with England's National Centre for Research in Children's Literature, which I am familiar with, but that's about all I know.)

Also what does it seem like, price-wise? (Nearly £4000 sterling, but it is the same price whether one is doing it on-site or via distance-learning, which could suggest good tutoring and contact even if doing it through distance learning, or an attempt to rip folks off - thoughts?)

Distance learning I am not sure, as I did (well, did half of) that MA on site.

Hmm...to be honest I don't think you would be missing out on much by doing it yourself from home as long as you had access to a decent college library (ie Trinity). I would more than likely have stuck at it had I been working at my own pace as I found the actual tutorials weren't really geared towards those who had recently finished degrees, particularly those who had recently finished a degree in English, as I had. It may be true of all MAs but I got a lot more from one term of Children's Literature in the final year in TCD, then I did from a couple of months in that course.

£4,000, yep it's a lot, but that is basically what you are going to pay for an MA anyway. I remember working it out that every time I went to a class I was paying £50 for the privilege, which did not seem worth it at the time.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about experiences of the course which I might be able to answer.
