A few shots from todays national 10K champs in Navan
    3476445867_878facdf20.jpg
Winner Sean Connolly of Tallaght AC and runner up Vinny Mulvey

I like this shot as you can see why you need to throw a few elbows

    3476450805_717c1fbbeb.jpg
Rathfarnham wsaf who were well represented

There is a few more here http://www.racepix365.com/RaceListing.aspx?idRace=32&BibNumber= and I'll put the rest up tomorrow. Well done to Navan in putting on such a good race, the only downfall was that the roads were not closed but I would imagine they had very little say in that.

The use of elbows are essential to a good start

Great race to watch. Well done to Sean Connelly, his 1st All-Ireland Senior gold, and great performance to beat Mulvey. Mick Clohessey came through well for 3rd. Barry Minnock was very unlucky not to medal. Got cramp on the second lap but definately think he'd have medalled and set a big pb if it wasn't for that, he's flying at the moment. Tallagh medalling for the second time in 2 weeks with another silver. Raheny watch out!! :D
Kerry Harty had a great run in the womens as well. Great battle between Catriona Jennings and Pauline Curley for 2nd.

Agree with you there woddle about the cars. Was there at the 5k mark and there could have been an accident with some of the runners further down the field. Some right reckless eejits rallying down the road. That aside twas a good race and a nice one to watch. Tea and sandwiches afterwards were well appreciated.

I thought the T-Shirt we got was fairly decent. A step up from a woodies shopping bag :o Usual local kids launching a football into the main pack as we passed by the 800M mark on the first lap.

Heard a few people talking about that after the race. Sounded like they were a right pain in the backside for a few people today. Nice to have an obstacle course thrown in for good measure  If you put a pair of runners on them and got them to run the 10k as punishment they wouldn't do it again in a hurry.

Yeah, I got the ball across the back of the leg and nearly went down. Turned around to give someone a filthy before I realised it was the football! On the second lap I noticed a man confiscating the ball from the kids as they were still making a nuisance of themselves. Good race today, well organised and a nice course. Heard people talking about the car incidents afterwards. There are some right tossers on the roads these days.

Was here with a small crew from Athenry AC yesterday. Thought it was a good race and it's certainly more enjoyable running than hosting as we did last year. For me it was a toughie as I'd been off injured for seven weeks and raced this on twelve days training. Don't tell my physio :-)

It was a great race and very well organised. It certainly wasn't a fast course - so if anyone got PBs, I think you can do a lot better :)

I enjoyed running with Sean & Vinny, even if I only lasted 3k :) It was 'reasonably' paced until that point, but then Sean put in a mighty surge and that was that for me - was hoping to last until 5k :) He was strong from the outset and Vinny looked a little tired (by his standards), perhaps one race too many of late (a bit like myself).

My race tactic was to go out hard and try to hang on for 3rd - it just didn't work out on the day - with hindsight it may not have been the smartest idea I've ever had :) I wasn't unlucky, just wasn't well enough prepared and spent too long of the race on my own against that wind - Mick killed me over the closing 2k and was well deserving of 3rd. I did get a stitch, which affected me from 7k onwards - in the end I was lucky to hang onto 4th - the peleton were closing quickly (although think I had more spare than the 1 sec given in the results).

Another title for Raheny - Rathfarnham will be back :) We're just resting some big names for the long track season ahead ;)

Thanks to Woodle for the photos. No sign of full results yet ...
