Sky+ Box Freezing current but recording ok

Since early this morning my Sky+ box has been freezing the current item being viewed but if I were to record it I get the full program.

Simple example, I'm trying to watch The Simpsons, it has played the first 2 minutes and has now frozen on the screen. If I press pause after the first 2 minutes or go out of it and set it to record I can view it afterwards. I just can't watch something "live".

Does anybody have any clue what is causing this? I've reset the system. TIA

There seems to be a problem with signal on Tuner1. It could be either the tuner itself, or more likely, a bad connection somewhere on the cable. Water ingress or just bad cable could also be the cause.

    Thank you Byte.
That has definitely pointed me in the right direction and I suspect i can pinpoint the culprit now. Much appreciated.

    Hi Byte,

As promised an update. I've checked the cable and it's not the problem. Turns out we're not the only one in our locality with this difficulty. My parents in law who live nearby also have the same "symptoms".

We've rung Sky who inform us that the new viewing card should solve it. Sounds dodgy to me but we were told to unplug the skybox for 3 hours, take the card out, turn it back on without the card for 30 mins, insert the card and it worked. I'm not convinced!

Hm, strange one. Be interesting to see if it keeps working.
