Although SR Technics lost a bid to continue airframe overhaul services for 40 of Aer Lingus' Airbus A330 and A320 family aircraft to Sabena Technics, it has signed five 10-year agreements to provide line maintenance services, A checks, ground handling, de-icing and aircraft appearance services. Through the contracts, Aer Lingus will be the highest revenue customer at its Dublin base, said SRT's Jan-Jesse Mueller, deputy head of corporate communications.

The recently signed aircraft appearances contract services agreement between SRT and Aer Lingus includes nighttime interior cabin deep cleaning services and external fuselage washing for a 10-year term, with four additional years of contract extensions, Mueller said. The precise value of the contract was not disclosed because the company is publicly held. Service under the five new contracts is to begin July 6.
SRT's Dublin base began as part of Aer Lingus' engineering division and later was spun off as an independent subsidiary, TEAM Aer Lingus. It later was sold off to FLS Aerospace, which subsequently was acquired by SRT. The 10-year airframe maintenance contract between the two is due to expire in October, at which time the work is to be assumed by Sabena technics at its facilities in Dinard and Bordeaux, France.

Ryanair have a hanger just inside the airside entrance down in the cargo area, at the back of the old Aer Lingus catering building.

As Lufty said in the post...all heavy Maintenance on Aer Lingus' A320 and A330 is done in Bordeaux and Dinard. Lingus also have their own "hangar" (if it can be described as that) over near the control tower in Dublin Airport. Its used for 600hour checks (A-Checks) and any scheduled/unscheduled maintenance that needs to be done in between heavy checks. About 40% of the EI fleet is maintenaned on a day to day basis in-House by Aer Lingus. The Remainder of the Fleet is looked after by SR Technics. SRT use their own hangars to look after the a/c they are contracted for for A Checks and any other Scheuled and unscheduled Maintenance.

Things are changing in the world of aircraft maintenance. Both Airbus and Boeing are including full maintenance as part of the sale package. BA have this is allready in place for the A380's when they arrive.

BA plan to buy B787 and A350's. We accept now that we in BA Engineering and employed by BA plc will have to compete with other maintenance organisations to get work on BA aircraft. Our managment will be negotiating with Boeng and Airbus and not Willie Walsh.

Who is going to carry out the maintenance on the remainder of the fleet, when SRT pull out by the 31st of August?

Would Shannon Aerospace take on the work? They can cater for the A320's but not A330.

They have taken occasional A320's for light work

Aer Lingus also have their own hanger at Shannon to fit the A330 where they do line work (not too sure what else)

For serious maintenance checks, Aer Lingus aircraft go to Bordeaux.

There are many situations where the defect needs to be rectified in Dublin - from the simple wheel change, right up to an engine change or an airframe structural repair. I.E, if the aircraft is in Dublin, when the snag occurs, it's not going anywhere until it's sorted.
