hi i have mp3 files on my laptop and somebody wants me to copy some of them to her ipod.

however i plugged the ipod into the usb in the laptop and it just displayed in the file structure: Calanders, Contacts and Notes folders and one '.metadata_never_index' file.

where do i copy the files into or do i have to download something else?. i dont want my mp3s on my laptop changed to some other file format as i just use winamp to play them.

    thanks in advance

    You need itunes

You can download itunes from - www.apple.com/itunes
Be aware that once you pair the ipod to your computer it can cause problems when she links back to her own computer.
Welcome to the ipod DRM nightmare!!:D.
If its only one or two songs and she has a usb key put them on there and she can transfer them back at her own machine.

and also to go in the opposite direction (ie ipod to laptop), which itunes doesn't facilitate, you can download an application called senuti… although i think at the moment this is only for macs.

Ah yes the now named "Apple Tax", which is why you should stamp on any i prefixed gadget before it infects you... :)

You don't need any special software to transfer music off an iPod. Just reveal hidden folders in Explorer, dig around in your iPod, and you'll find them.

They'll be all messed up in random folders, but will still have their tags intact, so any jukebox software will have no problems with them.
