what are the correct oils for my golf & mazda 323?

    Hi I have the following:

    VW Golf MK-V 1.4L (2004 year) ,which I service every 10k miles as recommended.

    and a

    Mazda 323 1.3L (2000 year) , which I service every 9k miles as recommended.


    Can anyone tell me what are the correct oils that I should be using in these 2 cars,brands,viscosity,semi synthetic/synthetic,etc..

    I would like to know which oils to use to top them up.Will probably start to carry out the oil services myself (recession busting idea,haha).

    Also am I leaving too long a service interval on either of these 2 cars?
