Chipped Teeth

Mods....move to dental issues if you see fit! Going unreg for this, as its a bit embarrassing and I want it swept under the carpet asap.

Basically, I was out last night with the lads. I was taking a sip from my bottle of beer, and the lads were having a mess. Anyhow one of them managed to smack my elbow while I was drinking, pushing the bottle into my mouth. I immediately felt little pieces on my tongue, hoping it was some glass. Not the case.

So now my two front teeth are slightly chipped on the side, to the pont where I don't think I can shrug it off and leave it. I'm fuming as its such a stupid thing to happen, but this kind of sh1t follows me around.

My question..... what is the story when dealing with chipped teeth? Caps, crowns, what is the norm? Also, what are the costs? My mate to be fair said to let him know what the bill is, but thats another story. Last thing I needed right now!

    Any info appreciated!

Certainly get it looked at. My younger brother punched me in the face when I was about 15 and the tooth that was damaged is no substantially different from its opposite number.

Crowns are the way to go, but they're not cheap. A local dentist quoted me a price of €1200 for a crown about 2 years ago. Needless to say I went shopping around after that, got it done in Spain for a quarter of the price.

If it isnt too bad the dentist can simply put a filling on it and shape it to look like a tooth. Mine cost me about 60 euro. If it is really bad later down the years your teeth may die and you'll need a root canal and if they die they'll start going black so you may need a veneer or a crown but lets hope its not that bad! talk to your dentist!

I am a dentist and would second guerrilla's advice. from your description it doesn't sound too serious. go see your dentist and i bet a little bit of composite bonding (white fillings) is all you need. the dentist will easily assess the extent of the damage after a 'quick look'
