If i wish to send this back under warrenty (i'm currently sending a request to wd about the warrenty as i'm out of the US they're unable to tell me from their site)
Whats the deal on confidentiality of whats on the drive?
I have lots of information that is rather sensitive in legality. Would it be safer to just keep the drive and buy a new one do you guys reckon?

If you're sending a hard drive back to Western Digital under warrantee (at least, that's what I go from your post), they will send you a new drive first so you can copy your data and then wipe the old one before you send it back.
