    Hi,

We are in Paris for 2 days and are looking for some recommendations of what to do. We were thinking of dinner in the Eiffel Tower and then a trip down the Seine.

Any other suggestions for accommodation (cheap and Cheerful would be great)

    Thanks in advance :)

When I was in Paris last summer I stayed in the Holiday Inn near Disneyland as thats why we were going to Paris then in Jan of this year we went back to the city itself and stayedat the same holiday inn as its only about 45/50 min into the city from there but we saved so much on accomodation it was worth it!:)
its kinda basic but if you just want a base its fine the staff are really friendly & speak good english (handy when you want to check in after midnight!) and the breakfast is a buffet where you can have s much or as little as you want :)

Try any of the Ibis hotels, they're decent value.

You'll be spoilt for choice as regards boat trips on the Seine - there's loads of companies that do them - Bateaux Mouches and Bateaux Parisiens being the two that spring to mind.

July is fabulous time to visit Paris. In relation to accomodation, really recommend this hotel
it is out of the tourist area, but easily accesible by metro. whch is about 7-10 minutes walk from the hotel. Costs about 110 per nite. Don't bother with breakfast, just head to the Boulangerie uo to the left of the road the hotel is on to get some fresh bread or the local supermarket, Champion, and get fresh croissants and orange juice for about 3€ for 2.

    Also would recommend this boat-tour
are almost on the hour, every hour. if you really want to see Paris as its known as the City of Lights, go at night time too. Fabulous. They have a tour guide who will point out most of the sites to you. Also can get a discount by printing off a voucher from the website or booking in advance online.

You can get a cruise and dinner in the Eiffel Tower for €116 each from this website
to be honest, would personally feel this is slightly unnecessary. The Eiffel Tower is the most unromantic and over-rated tousit site in Paris. Also beware of queues at this time of the year if you wish to go to the top......and its hot standing waiting so bring water!!!

For views of Paris, I would suggest you see the Montparnasse Tower, including views of the Eiffel Tower. Anytime we have been in the last number of years, is less definetly less crowed and obviously have a view of the Tower too!!

I am very jealous of you heading off to Paris, would love to be going again, however been told I am not allowed to go anymore!! 4 times was enough for some :D

Hope this has been some help!!

Four nights for two of us (incl. breakfast) comes to €350.

WHAT???!!! I love the Eiffel Tower. Also if you are going for dinner in the Jules Verne restaurant it is a great experience and there are no queues as the restaurant has it's own elevator.

My advice about the Eiffel Tower and many sights in Paris is to completely ignore the guys around trying to sell you keyrings etc. If you even look at them they will annoy you for quite some time.

I would go up to Sacre Coer and Montmatre - beautiful area. Church itself is always a bit packed but wander around the area, particularly up behind the church...

2 days in Paris isnt huge so dont try to do everything. Spending an afternoon or evening eating outside on a restaurant on champ elysee is time well spent. You will get to see all sorts of life go by. How are you getting to Paris. If you are flying to CDG 1 or 2 then get a train pass (A PAris Visite) for 3 days, this will give you free access to the trains and metros for the trip including the train to a from the airport. If your traveling with Ryan air this isnt an option.

If you want to shop then Boulevard Hausmann has all the large department stores, or Rue Faubaurg St Honaire all the designer stores. But for value go to VAl D;Europe at MArne LA Valle on the train, the stop before Disney, a large shopping complex with designer outlet village.

Atrip to The Moulin Rouge is well worth a visit for PAris flavour. I didnt like the food so found the whole package not good value but you can go for the show alone, lastminute dot com does good prices. If not a trip to Montmarte is well worth it, the square has all the artist during the day and then good food and drink in the evening. Sitting here drinking a glass of champagen is great. Mercure and Ibis are both in Monmarte a good value and walking distance of the metro. Loads of cheap and cheerful restaurants here too and good shopping for unusual clothes, leather shoes and costume jewellery.

If you like art the the louvre needs a ful day, but I prefer the Musee Dorsay. I you get the boat on the Seine you can hop on and off here. If you are a student or under 25 then bring your student carec or ID with you as you get discount entry. My mature student card was great. Also some places are free on Sundays.

For a longer day out Versailles is lovely, and the train ticket takes you here aswell (and MArne le vallee for shopping) But be prepared to que if the weather is good, or get theere very early.

Finally, for a good place (not cheap but good value for excellent food) go to Ave Des Grande Armme, is right beside the Arc De Triomphe the road opposite the Champs Elysee (go under the road). The first restaurant is Restaurant Grand Armme its good.

When you get off the plane pick up a map in the airport, on the stands beside the baggage carousal. It has street and train and metro maps and its almost impossible to get lost.

    Me....been to Paris...never.

    Enjoy yourself
