Just watched Martin Lindsay stop Appleby in 6 for the british title - Great performance and it looked a great atmosphere !

Is Ireland must one of the hardest places to come to fight ? the crowd tonight in the Ulster Hall were unbelievable...

Whats the odds of another Irish World Champion at featherweight ???

Amazing performance from Lindsay tonight, he really was fantastic.
Not sure he's quite ready for a World title shot next, maybe make one defence and then go for it.

Even if Lindsay was to then lose to Cruz it'd probably be a good learning experience for him.

Absolutely delighted for Martin, especially after what happened to Duddy last night.

Agree it'd be too soon for a title fight but a few british title defences and he could be in with a shout !

Judging on that performance with a bit more experience the potential is definitely there

Bloody hell, I'm at home and somehow missed this.
Delighted for Lindsay. Always liked him since the ams.
Have to say I never could understand all the hype about Appleby. Saw him twice and I thought British title was about his level to be honest.
Either way great day for Martin. Well done.

great performance. I am really delighted for him.

Hes only had 14 fights. Its still very early for a world title shot. I would like to see him have one or two more first. That should put him right up there in the rankings though

Just saw a rerun of the fight. What a cracker !!

However, I will say that I thought maybe the ref stepped in a little too quick.
Appleby was definitely hurt, but I feel could have been given a little more time. Not a very bad stoppage but I can understand Tommy Gilmour's frustration.

Lindsay's better boxing skills were the difference. Appleby is big and strong but a bit crude to be honest. His right hands could be seen coming a mile off and Lindsay dipped under them effortlessly throughout. Actually, Lindsay's overall defence was excellent.

Shouldn't forget the crowd either. Magnificent support.

We need to get fighters like Lindsay fighting for the Irish belt to give it some prestige. Someone mentioned Pajo in another thread. I think its a good idea.
