I need to replace existing sewage system. Until you start looking you don't realise that there are so many different suppliers of sewage systems out there. At this stage I have narrowed it down to two and both of these are suitable for my site conditions. The Bord na Mona puraflo system and the Envirocare P range treatment plant .Each of these suppliers tell me that their system is the best,(if I was flogging one I would do the same) but what I'd like to know is which one is really the best and 3 to 4 years after installation how well are they working now and which one has had and needs the least amount of maintenance? I would really appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on this for me and let me know their own experiences? Thanking you in advance.

You'll need planing permission for this and also a site assessment. The person who does the site assessment will recommend the best system based on the ground conditions.

I have a puraflo system. The house is about 4 years old, and it is a pain in the rear. It appears that I have water getting into the septic tank from the ground, most likely due to a crack. And with all the rain last year it means that the pumps is running a lot. Costing a small fortune in electricity. The pump had to be replaced last year costing 350 euro, and anyone I ask about repairing it hasn't a clue.

Ditto here. The pump on my puraflow system is running non stop (even though there is no water to pump) due to a probable fault with the float in the pump chamber. Been waiting a week now for Bord na Mona to call me back to arrange for an engineer to call out. Based on this, their after sales service isn't great.

I have the System from Shay Murtagh Installed since 2005 and it is working fine, only problem so far was a Pump failed and it was replaced under warranty, anytime i have rang them up in relation to settings or anything they have been very helpfull, when i was buying it, they were staight to the point and did not try and force any maintenence contracts on me, also they said it could go from 5 - 8 years without being emptied which at the time was a big thing because most of the rivals were saying about 1 - 2 years it would need emptying, P.S I'm Just a customer i'm not trying to sell the things for them, also i'd imagine your electricty bill will go up once you install one of these so look for how much power they consume

I installed a P unit from envirocare in 2005 which was discharging into a public sewer (if I cleaned the waste I could discharge ? never made any sence to me). It gets tested quarterly and has failed every time. Envirocare customer service is probably the worst I have ever come across. There is a maintenance agreement with them on the unit and it still fails and they dont know why.
