question re Marshall insurance

    this is one for the Com's and club officials,as an ex racer i would like to help out at some races on my motor cycle as a marshall but i am concerned about insurance ,when i contacted my insurance they said they do not cover marshalls ,if any one has any info on what cover is available or required by following vehicles i would be grateful

    To my knowledge for a marshall (bike or standing) you need a cycling license to be covered by insurance, it was enforced recently especially in league races.

    Best bet would be to ask your local club or ring cycling ireland, or even pop up to the next cycling event and ask the CI or race officals.

    As long as you sign on as a marshall then CI's insurance covers you. By signing on you become a de facto member of CI for the duration of the evnt.

    if i recall correctly was there a case a few years back of a motorbike marshall getting taken out of it in a big race here and having further difficulties?

    That was during the RAS hence the need to sign on now !

    thanks for the replies guys,still a bit vague on what and who would be covered in the event of an incident will contact ci and see what they have to say
