Wondering what people thought of this.

If this film has already been discussed then move it over but I couldnt find it anywhere.

Its the new one. I like it. I liked the 1st but liked the 2nd one more cos Vin disel wasnt in it, the story was better and Eva Mendes was in it. Didnt see the Tokyo one so wasnt expecting much when I went to see the new one but I was pleasantly surprised. Should have watched the 1st one before I went to see this one as they referenced it a lot.

While I didnt agree with bringing all the characters from the 1st one back and then killing one off so early, I suppose it was the only way for Vin Diseal to come back.

While the film was enjoyable, I have a question for it if anyone could answer. When both Diseal and the cop guy do the race to see who wins and gets into the bad guys gang and the former wins, how does the latter still get into the group?.

Thought the race scenes underground were cool

Having never seen any of the other films, I went along to this and thought it was pretty awful - poor CGI, nonsense plot
(why did all the street racers have to cross the border only to get shot in the face?)
and so on. I am not the target audience for it admittedly, but even thought the car chases were confusingly filmed - especially the tunnel one which was a pretty bad and cramped location for a chase sequence. As for your query about the street race 'contest' I was pretty confused about this too, but as a friend explained afterwards when
Mr Walker planted the drugs on the other racer he obviously got the spare place
. Very badly explained plot point. Decent chase at the start though, up until the CGI - shame it was ruined by the trailer!

On the plus / negative side, we were involved in a real life high speed pursuit up the mountains on the way home, involving two freshly burning cars. Kind of apt considering the film we had just seen, but both fun and absolutely terrifying.

I must not have been concentrating at that point cos I cant remember that happening at all. Would agree that it was a badly explained plot point. I thought that it was only the winner who was to get into the bad guys gang.

It's a pity that they got rid of the girl at the start cos the one that replaced her wasnt as hot as her. However I was surprised that it turned out not to be her who was the leader of the bad guys. Neat twist that

Thanks for that now I know the twist, spoiler tags are there for a reason.

the first scene is actually directed by Vin Diesal and the rest of the film by someone else.

I liked the opening scene (which gives me hope that maybe Vin can be like Ben Affleck and is better behind the camera) it was a decent tense action scene that only went into CGI in the final overtop bit.

The rest of the film is pretty much crap and boring, not worth sitting through.

the first 20 minutes of the film are set just after the first film but before the third its why it ends with
han saying he is going to tokyo

Seriously who goes to see these films? I like to read reviews of films and get a feel for if they are worth a watch but when something stars Vin Diesel and contains the words "fast" and "furious" in it it's an auto-ignore. Similar to the directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans auto-ignore or the starring Rob Schneider auto-avoid.

I went to see it for want of something to do on Good Friday. The film was pure muck. Absolute brainless ****e. To dispel any ambiguity
    It was brutal.

Not surprised the negative reports. The first one although not entirely an original plot (Point Blank anyone?) was actually worth a watch. It grew out of an article about the street racing culture. Never saw the sequels. Flogging a dead horse imo.

i enjoyed all of them even though im a biker. One of the biker movies made after it was crap because it made a reference to fast and furious and it ruined the movie for me.

    Bloody god awful film.

Couldn't help but laugh at the long protracted Vin Dieseal scenes with his "contemplating" expression where he sort of stares into the distance and looks intense.
